1. General
For all registered nurses and midwives, as well as nursing and midwifery students, whatever their practice setting: hospital, home care, community facilities... Bolus is currently available in French and built on French drug references.
Most of Bolus is free: complete drug sheets, search, calculators (dose, infusion rate, BMI), vaccination schedule, due date calculator and offline mode — a free care timer is also in the works. Additional features (unlimited favorites, history of the last 50 drugs viewed, condensed emergency mode, a toolbox with lab reference ranges, scoring scales and a personal phone directory, My unit documents to keep your unit's own protocols at hand...) will be offered in an upcoming premium plan.
Bolus is currently in development. Join the waitlist to be notified as soon as it launches.
2. Medical content
No, not for now. The app currently focuses on adult patients. Extending it to pediatrics may be considered in a future version.
The drug sheets are based primarily on the official SmPCs (Summaries of Product Characteristics) published by the ANSM (French National Agency for Medicines and Health Products Safety), supplemented by the references of the OMéDITs (French regional observatories for medicines, medical devices and therapeutic innovation) and the HUG (Geneva University Hospitals), then by the AP-HP (Paris public hospitals) and the MSF (Médecins Sans Frontières) guide for additional technical data.
Our source-checking method (article in French) →The content is based on the official ANSM SmPCs and on recommendations from the HAS (French National Authority for Health) and the AP-HP. An additional professional review is underway.
A quarterly update process is planned, with the date of the last revision shown on every drug sheet.
3. Regulatory framework and liability
No. Bolus falls outside the scope of the European Medical Device Regulation (MDR 2017/745). The drug sheets are for information purposes and the calculators perform simple arithmetic; the nurse remains solely in charge of, and responsible for, preparation and administration.
No. Bolus is a tool for quick access to information. It never replaces medical prescriptions, the clinical judgment of healthcare professionals, or the protocols in force in their facility.
